Neil Harbisson is the first legally recognised cyborg in the world and has an antennae attached to his skull which perceives light frequencies from infra-red to ultraviolet and converts them to sound vibrations in his head. Neil creates music and art exploring identity, human perception, the connection between sight and sound and the use of artistic expression via new sensory inputs and has given a Ted talk about his project. Neil is pushing the limits of the brain and providing himself with an extra sense to work with. He can connect to the International Space Station and hear the light frequencies that are in space as well as have frequencies sent directly into his brain. He is also developing a project to use a heat source orbiting his skull once per day to alter his perception of time.
