Some artists are motivated entirely by the creative process, while others need to communicate with an audience in order to be fulfilled. Still others are goal-oriented, needing a connection greater than just performing for an audience to feel like they’re making their desired impact on the world. Sorting out these interconnected but separate motivations and reflecting on their relative importance can help clarify an individual’s purpose in life.    Josh explains that he is views himself as a “communication artist,” a creative who seeks connection with audiences and other people. Reflecting on and better defining one’s purpose can facilitate communicating with an audience. From there, the conversation moves to a description of the artist’s “soul source,” the unique viewpoint or gift that a creative can share with the world.
