In this talk, we explore the world of non-traditional work, and the benefits offered in retirement. Often, we overlook the value that non-traditional work can offer at different stages of our life and career. It can be an additional source of income, a foot in the door strategy of a new occupation or a start to an entrepreneurial chapter. It is an excellent way to build connections and create the flexibility you want in your schedule. It can also give you the opportunity to share your knowledge and experience through flexible part-time, casual, on-call, seasonal or independent work.
Gail Kastning B.Ed., CCDP, CSS is the owner of Purposeful Careers. Her company specializes in the design and delivery of career support programs for both traditional and non-traditional workers. She has been an independent worker, portfolio careerist and business owner for over 20 years and prefers to have multiple income streams. She is currently planning her retirement portfolio career which will include working part-time in her business, and doing more hiking, biking and traveling.
