The Precipice of Delusion
Julian Gavilanes

My name is Julian Gavilanes. I am an actor, filmmaker and now podcaster in NYC, who has an ever-growing fascination with the artists journey. Furthermore, how they've uniquely managed to stick with it through all the inevitable adversity that seems to be a prerequisite for getting to where they want to go.

Many artistic people will say, "you have to be delusional just to believe you even can." And this show attempts to explore how some of my favorite artists in the world learned to cross over from just believing that they could do this, to actually executing these "impossible" aspirations.

Ideally, through these conversations we will impart some level of valuable insight for all of us who are struggling to keep pushing the rock up the hill. Attempt to find the best skills for prioritizing self-care inside and keeping positivity at the forefront of their hearts. Because at the end of the day, no matter what level you reach--it doesn't get and easier. It just gets different. But the good news is, you're not alone. And you're far from inadequate. So, enjoy the talks and stay inspired!

Finding my Rhythm

Finding my Rhythm

Happy Holidays y'all! I know it's been a minute since I've put up a new podcast, so I wanted to explain a bit of where I've been. It's been a busy season for me. And there have been a lot of lessons along the way. Mostly, relinquishing control that I don't posses. It's hard in my field, and maybe it's difficult across the board, but, but a handful of "let downs" have really helped me frame my perspective on what the value of my continued pursuit is for myself. Throwing in the towel would be the easy way out, but digging deeper and continuing to push through the most difficult times, have typically resulted in the biggest revelations in my own personal growth. So, this holiday season, I want you all to try and relinquish a bit of that control that you're not actually in possession of. I promise you, it'll do you good.

I hope everyone has a safe, loving, cozy and relaxing holiday. And that as you reflect on 2024, you give yourself a bit of grace. It was a hard year for me. But I made it to the other side. And there's still so much work to do. But there's also a lot of acceptance to give myself. You too?
