The LGBTQ History Museum of Central Florida
Join us as host Elissa Miller talks with some of the folks behind the LGBTQ History Museum of Central Florida: President Alexis Rodriguez, Vice President Nikki Fragala Barnes, and Treasurer Martha Brenckle. We’re discussing everything from what it takes to run a museum, to curating exhibits and galleries that exist primarily online, to highlighting some figures from Central Florida’s history. You can find out more about the LGBTQ History Museum of Central Florida via their website http://www.floridalgbtqmuseum.org/. You can also find them on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Instagram. To contact them, whether for volunteering or to donate to the collection, send them an email at floridalgbtqmuseum@gmail.com. A note about language: Language and terms used to describe identity in the LBGTQ+ community have changed over time. When talking about LGBTQ+ folks in a historical context, we have done our best to use the terms those individuals would have used to describe themselves. Various versions of the LGBTQ+ acronym and the term “queer” are also used throughout this episode to describe the community as a whole.
