Plato and Socrates Part 3: The Republic (I-II)

We're done with Plato's early dialogues and now we will explore the most important and popular philosophical text of all time: The Republic. This episode will also mark the beginning of a series of episodes on The Republic by Plato. Some people even call it the seed out of which Philosophy grew. Some call it the Bible of philosophy. In a way, every philosophical book written after the Republic is either a critique, a comment or a rebuttal to the thoughts present in the Republic. In the span of the next couple of episodes, we will cover topics like wisdom, politics, democracy, justice, dictatorship, epistemology, knowledge, feminism, soul, truth, education and a lot more. In today's episode, we will take a closer look at justice, censorship, knowledge and education. The Republic is the first book that marks an evolution in Plato's political beliefs along with his philosophical pursuits.
