S1E21: Dr Reed and Simmonds - Connecting the Dots: Farming, Sustainability, and the Food Cycle

In this episode we are joined by the fantastic scientists Dr Pippa Simmonds and Dr Matthew Reed. We talk about a wide range of topics covering everything from sustainable farming, organic produce, packaging, engaging communities and challenges associated with a more sustainable transition. A key theme that came up throughout the episode was the connection between farming and many other aspects of life. For instance, how do we make farming more sustainable, a greater quantity of organic, how do we help connect people with the understanding of the challenges of this, how do we upskill and connect farmers with potential solutions. How is packaging connected to the sale of this etc etc. This is a fantastic episode for all those interested in understanding the challenges that crop up and peoples perceptions when it comes to the environmental, as well of course, all the interesting work that goes on exploring and understanding the intricacies involved with food production and the environment. Guest: Dr Matthew Reed - Associate Professor in Food Citizenship, University of Gloucestershire Philippa Simmonds – PhD Student, University of Gloucestershire Be sure to check out the podcast on all usual podcast platforms, and on social media.
