5 Reason’s Why People Won’t See a Behavioral Health Provider and the Importance of Integrated Care

There are many reasons why we talk ourselves out of seeing a Behavioral Health Provider or accessing therapy.

In this episode we talk about 5 of those reasons:

  • The "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality
  • The "can't speak about it cause it gives it power" mentality
  • The "we take care of these issues within our own community" mentality
  • "It's a small town and everyone knows everyone else's business"
  • The idea that therapy or counseling is open ended and will last forever

We also talk about the role of traditional counseling and who is a good fit for it as well as treat to target and the use of Suboxone for those struggling with opioid use.

If after listening to this you want to seek traditional counseling or treat to target services or you are struggling with substance use please call 406-665-4103 and ask for a Behavioral Health Care Manager or contact your primary care provider and discuss with them. They should be able to connect you with the resources you need!
