After months of speculation, the White House confirmed that the mysterious drones spotted over New Jersey in late 2024 were authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for research purposes and other undisclosed activities.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, speaking on behalf of newly sworn-in President Donald Trump, assured the public that the drones were not foreign threats, but a mix of FAA-approved flights, law enforcement activity, and hobbyist drones.

The drone sightings, which spread panic across the Northeast, led to temporary FAA-imposed no-fly zones and fueled conspiracy theories—including claims that the drones were connected to a foreign "mothership."
