Workplace violence and safety in nursing

Workplace violence is exceedingly common in health care settings, and nurses are frequently at higher risk, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports. Renee Schoenbeck, UCHealth RN and workplace violence prevention clinical quality specialist, joins us in this episode. We discuss how to identify different types of workplace violence, as well as some first-hand experiences. We also talk about the training, education and threat assessments being used to support the safety of nurses as well as patients. Content warning: This episode discusses sensitive subjects related to violence, domestic violence and abuse.
