Michel Domingues from Renault: advice for first-time Plant Managers, competitiveness in a high-wage country, and why you should start by planning your succession

Today is it my pleasure to present my conversation with Michel Domingues.

Michel is Plant General Manager at the Spanish Engine factory of Groupe Renault, the French automotive manufacturer.

Previously he had been a Plant Manager in multiple factories: Renault Cacia, Grand Vision, and Kathrein Automotive.

Michel also has a strong background in Lean Manufacturing, having led Operational Excellence initiatives in Faurecia, and as  a consultant for multiple automotive companies.

Please join me in welcoming: Michel Domingues!

Themes in the conversation:

  • How can Lean leaders work better with their Plant Managers
  • Why frontline workers need more trust and empowerment
  • The best approach to trial new technology suggestions
  • The importance of developing empathy as a plant manager
  • Why your first mission as a manager should be to prepare your successor
  • How to keep an edge to compete against lower-wage countries
