Exploring the history of European and Native American contacts - 1003 to 1890. A new podcast and other web-based materials, based upon the product of your humble author's research of actual historians, archeologists, anthropologists, geneticists, and others.  Some of this stuff comes from legends, oral histories of Native and European civilizations, scientific analysis of genetic populations, anthropological and archeological references, written history and of course our own speculation as to human nature, common sense and our experience.  All of this in context, we hope.

Episode 8 - Bartolome de las Casas and Basic Human Dignity

Bartolome de las Casas was a Dominican and a lifelong advocate for the indigenous peoples of South and Central America.  Unfortunately, this stance wasn't designed to maximize the earning potential of the encomenderos, and thus doomed to failure.  This is a little bit of his story.
