Endometriosis: From Misunderstood to Managed with Morganne Skinner

In this episode we discuss

  • Morganne’s journey
  • Common misconceptions about Endometriosis
  • The difference between excision & ablation
  • Fertility & Endometriosis
  • How to live an anti-inflammatory lifestyle
  • What to do when you suspect you have Endometriosis
  • How to get the proper support for your physical, mental, & spiritual wellbeing
  • Yoni Steaming, Herbs, & Endometriosis
  • & More

It took her Morganne 15 years to get diagnosed with Endometriosis. She spent years trying to find answers and treatments for her symptoms. Even though she was a practicing nurse and someone who understood the medical system, she still experienced many challenges in getting her diagnosis and the proper treatments.

1 in 10 women had endometriosis, a full-body inflammatory disease, not just a period disease. Although it is almost as common as diabetes, the medical field doesn’t have many people who specialize in endometriosis. As a result, it takes an average of 7-9 years for someone to get their diagnosis.

90% of women first present to their doctors with digestive and gut health complaints - not period pain. The number 1 symptom is bloating. The symptoms are wide and varied, which can make the whole process that much more challenging.

While endometriosis can present wide and varied physical symptoms, it can also take a large toll on mental health. In this episode, we discuss how important your support systems are in this journey and which support systems to seek out.

If you or someone you love suspects that they have Endometriosis, Morganne recommends seeking out the following support systems and modalities

  • Find the right Excision Specialist: Find one here https://icarebetter.com/
  • Therapy: endometriosis is often associated with anxiety and depression
  • Journalling, self-help books, support groups
  • Cycle charting gave her a sense of agency and empowerment back through the ability to predict flares and use tools to prevent flares. It gave her predictability over a body that had become unpredictable.
  • Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist (PFPT)  can help with pelvic pain, abdominal pain, urinary dysfunction, diarrhea, and more
  • Acupuncture gave her agency and comfort because it is symptoms based - she didn’t need a diagnosis to continue the healing process
  • Herbs have helped her manage or eradicate symptoms without side effects

Remember that you are not alone in this journey—embrace the healing power of nature, community, and self-love, and let your inner light shine brightly through every challenge. 🌸✨
