Journal Entry #46 - The Quiet Power of Play: Letting Go of Over-Scheduling

In this journal-style reflection, I explore what it means to truly trust in play—not as a break from learning, but as the learning itself.

So often, we find ourselves packing every minute of our kids’ days with structured activities, worried they’ll fall behind or miss out. But what if the very thing we’re skipping—the unscheduled, open-ended, magical nothing time—is actually where the most important development happens?

This episode is a letter to my kids, and to any parent who needs the reminder that doing less can sometimes give our children so much more. More space to grow, to imagine, to lead themselves—and to just be.

What’s Inside:

* Why play is emotional and cognitive work

* The hidden cost of over-scheduling

* Why boredom isn’t a problem—it’s a portal

* How to build trust in your child’s internal rhythm

* A gentle reflection for anyone feeling the pressure to do more

Favorite Quote from the Episode:

“They are the quiet work you do to grow strong inside. They are the practice fields for creativity, resilience, and emotional strength.”
