Journal Entry #45 - The Sock Situation: Life Skills, Tiny Shoes, and Big Lessons

In this episode, I share a moment that started with a simple sock and turned into something much deeper—a lesson in patience, trust, and what it really means to raise capable kids.

When our children try to do something hard—like get dressed, make their own breakfast, or zip up their coat—we often rush in. Not because we don’t believe in them, but because we’re tired, running late, or worried they’ll get upset.

But what if those “inconvenient” moments are actually the ones that matter most?

This journal-style reflection is for every parent who’s ever wanted to jump in, fix it, do it faster—but is learning (like me) to slow down, let go, and trust the process.

💡 In This Episode:

* Why life skills aren’t just about chores

* What our kids are really asking for when they say “I want to do it myself”

* The emotional power of letting kids struggle a little (with support)

* How our responses shape their self-belief more than we think

* Why socks can sometimes be soul work 😅

Got a parenting moment that surprised you?Something tiny that ended up meaning a whole lot?
