Episode 90: Celebrating Black History Month - Mental Health Journey in Pageantry Contestants
As we celebrate Black History Month, it's essential to highlight stories that inspire change and promote awareness. In this special episode of the podcast, we welcome two remarkable contestants from the recently concluded Mr. Africa UK pageant, Michael Nyabako and Calvin J Ikechuku . Both men share their unique journeys, emphasizing the importance of mental health advocacy and cultural diversity. Calvin, representing Nigeria, reflects on the exciting experiences he had during the pageant. He highlights the importance of meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and the valuable lessons learned throughout the journey. Calvin's enthusiasm for pageantry and his dedication to helping the less privileged demonstrate the profound impact such experiences can have on an individual's life. Michael, who represented Zimbabwe, is a passionate advocate for autism and men's mental health. He has faced personal challenges, including a hearing impairment, which fueled his desire to break barriers in pageantry.
