MIT Campus Update: Sun Alignment, Climate Hackathon, Career Fair, Sports Highlights & More (Nov 10–17)
Hey Tim the Beaver, it's Jenny with your Campus Update for November 10 through November 17. Let's get you set for the week—fast.
First up—the MIT Henge phenomenon is happening today and tomorrow. Catch the sun aligning perfectly with the Infinite Corridor today at 4:19 p.m. and tomorrow at 4:20 p.m. Best viewing spot? The third floor between Buildings 7 and 8. Weather permitting, of course.
Next, the MIT Energy & Climate Club Hackathon kicks off this Friday, November 14, at 5 p.m. in Building 10. This year's theme is Industrial Decarbonization & Sustainable Manufacturing. If you're passionate about tackling climate change, this is your chance to innovate.
Finally, the Engineering Career Fair Collaborative is happening this Friday, November 14, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Harvard's David Rubenstein Treehouse. Shuttle transportation is available, and it's a great opportunity to connect with companies in fields like robotics, energy, and medical devices.
This past weekend, our women's cross country team competed at the NCAA Regionals in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. While the official results are still pending, the team has been strong all season. Looking ahead, the men's cross country team is gearing up for the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, November 22, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Let's cheer them on as they aim for national glory!
On Wednesday, November 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., there's an IAP Build-a-Radar session in Building 33, Room 419. It's a hands-on opportunity to debug and get the first light of your radar system. Perfect for tech enthusiasts looking to dive into practical applications.
Also, the "Monsters of the Deep" exhibition is ongoing at the MIT Museum. Explore the mysteries of the ocean's depths and discover creatures that seem straight out of science fiction. It's a fascinating dive into marine biology and oceanography.
And for a quick bite, the food trucks on Carleton Street are serving up some delicious options this week. From tacos to sushi, there's something to satisfy every craving. Perfect for a lunch break between classes.
This week in Cambridge, expect a mix of cloudy skies and sunshine. Monday brings periods of rain, so keep that umbrella handy. Tuesday turns windy and colder, with temperatures dropping to the mid-30s. The rest of the week sees intervals of clouds and sunshine, with highs ranging from the mid-40s to low 50s. A brief shower is possible on Friday. So, layer up and stay prepared for changing conditions.
Your move: Register for the MIT Energy & Climate Club Hackathon by Thursday to secure your spot. Don't miss out on this chance to make a difference in sustainable manufacturing.
