The Luxury Travel Edit podcast is where leaders of the travel industry share insights about their world-class brands and companies. Hosted by the luxury-travel consultant and journalist John O’Ceallaigh, the series covers all things relating to luxury travel, from hotels to aviation to superyachts.
In this final episode of the first series of the podcast, John speaks to Tom Cahalan. A self-made businessman who developed a taste for luxury travel at a young age, Tom established the infamously blunt and brutal travel blog The Good, The Bad and the Luxurious to document his earliest trips. It quickly drew a community of ultra-high-net-worth travellers who were keen to hear Tom's unfiltered opinions on many of the world's most expensive hotels. This precipitated his creation of the travel agency Dorsia Travel, which caters to that same community. Its trips start from a minimum of $5,000 per couple per day. Here Tom discusses what his customers want, the hotels he loves and the hotels he hates, and what so many hoteliers fail to understand about present-day wealthy travellers.
