Following Jesus is not easy. As disciples, we have to pick up our cross daily and let go of whatever we are holding onto in the world. We will face persecution for loving Jesus, but keep in mind that the world hates Jesus, and we as Christians are called to be apart from this world. Following Jesus will not make you wealthy. Following Jesus will not make you popular. Following Jesus is saying, “you know what Jesus, I don’t care how bad it gets, I don’t care if people think I’m crazy, I don’t care if nobody likes me, because I want to follow you. Because you are worth it, and you are all that I need.” Following Jesus is an everyday choice to deny yourself, pick up your cross, and follow Him.
