Tina's Story

*** This story was originally recorded and aired on YFM Ghana in December 2018. It was a special program commemorating World AIDS Day***

8 years ago, Tina went for a check-up after noticing an unusual rash on her palm. The doctor ran several tests on her and found out that she was HIV positive. At the time, she was 23 and in her first intimate relationship. She kept her diagnosis a secret from everyone except her brother out of fear of being stigmatized. Listen to her story on this episode and remember that prevention is better than cure. Practice safe sex: get tested for STIs/HIV and wear condoms.
