Ep. 54 - Melissa D’Agostino (actor, writer, director, theatremaker, filmmaker)
In today’s episode, Amanda drinks some red wine with actor, writer, director, theatremaker and filmmaker Melissa D’Agostino to discuss creating HighballTV, her experience as a first-time film director, and the value she took from editing reality television! Melissa has seamlessly flowed between the theatre and film worlds throughout her career, receiving awards for writing, acting, and directing both nationally and internationally. Her performance in the digital series Tactical Girls won her the 2017 Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Web Series, and in that same year, Melissa co-founded the international streaming site HighballTV with her partner in art and life, Matt Campagna. Since launching HighballTV, Melissa and Matt have been able to green light numerous feature films and give several directors their directorial debuts when they couldn’t get their projects funded otherwise. You can check out HighballTV on AppleTV, Roku, or on your desktop. In 2022, Melissa made her feature directorial debut with the film Mother of All Shows, a film she co-wrote with David James Brock starring Melissa and Wendie Malack. Mother of All Shows premiered at the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival and won Outstanding Narrative Feature, as well as Outstanding Director of a Narrative Feature.    Looking for more of The Liquid Courage Podcast?
