In a world where the spotlight often shines on Western contemporary art and its historical narratives, it's important to remember that Asia is home to approximately 60% of the global population. With this in mind, the purpose of hosting this podcast is to present alternative worldviews and foster a deeper appreciation for the richness and diversity of art across Asia. Every weekend a new episode is released, bringing new perspectives and engaging dialogues with emerging and established artists, curators, gallerists and collectors in Asia.

Ep.105 | Meg Maggio on the intricacies of art collecting, managing multigenerational collections in Asia, and the current state of the art world in the region.

Today, I’m really excited to have Meg Maggio, a veteran in the contemporary art scene in China, who played a key role in establishing one of the first foreign-invested art galleries in the country. With over 20 years of experience in the art business, Meg specialises in 20th and 21st century art.

Originally trained as a corporate lawyer, she has spent nearly 30 years living in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. A Mandarin speaker, Meg continues to guide clients in building their contemporary art collections.

In our conversation, we’ll explore the intricacies of art collecting, the challenges of managing multigenerational family collections in Asia, and the current state of affairs of the art world in the region.
