Session 5 Recap: When we last left our adventurers, They were enjoying a little downtime after the downing of the underhanded Hag. Silas did some tinkering, making some new magical items and infusions for the party . Anima spent her time researching new spells, raising more dead, and crafting a gold covered skull to help cast a new spell, and Aton spent some time in the forest, sometimes with Anima, sometimes alone. On one of those times alone, he came across an ARC Ranger named Na’Nova, who also is a Tiefling ranger. They spent some time together, looking for more proof of passage up north of those mysterious creatures the Tasty Cakes saw several weeks before.

A couple days before the team was to meet at the Castle for Varrin’s birthday party, they were asked by Dryn to come to a private dinner with the Regent, where he thanked them personally for the efforts to save his daughter. They had a lovely meal and chat, and then the next day, it was Party Time! The party members spent the day, playing games and racing kids and adults in various games, and “donating” some money to Varrin’s savings, after which, everyone retired to the dining all. Several roast pigs and swans were served as well as drink. After a lovely speech by the Regent, there was a unholy scream from outside of the door, after which a Revenant burst through the door and screamed, “there you are,” while looking at the head table.

A fight in sues, where the undead creature is trying to get to the head table and the party is trying to take it down before it gets there. With some quick thinking and good rolls, they are able to keep the creature from its goal, who was Varrin. The party discovers that it was Clarence, the jester who Varrin killed over a month ago. An ARC Ranger by the name of Jax comes over and inspects the body and finds some little mushrooms on the skull of the Revenant. He is not sure what to make of that, only that it looks like the Revenant was “Helped along.”

The Party, Jax and the Regent retire to the war room, where they discuss while Jax was there. He states that he discovered where the possible site of the person responsible for the attack on Windred. He is not sure if the attack on Varrin or Windred is connected, but the regent decides that as the only lead, it must be investigated, and asked Team Tasty cakes to see what is going on in the Royal Ruins. As the discussion unfolded, Aton got more and more intense and decided that they had to get to this location as soon as possible. The Regent was able to get a carriage and driver to travel through the night and get them to the entrance of the Canyon.

We join the Tasty Cakes as they are getting ready to leave and get supplies ready for the mysteries that wait ahead.
