Kodah Pip: Undoing a gender change, making aligned decisions, & what AI won't replace

Kodah Pip is a fascinating and impressive dude.

While yes, he was born a man and transitioned to a woman - only to de-transition to a man (and that's very fascinating), that's only one small part of the conversation.

We covered other things: from finding purpose, what it means to be a man, getting into integrity with one's self, Kodah's next big project (a huge interactive entertainment campus in downtown LA), what will remain constant in an AI-dominated future, and more.

*Please note on the topic of gender: I have no horse in this race and this isn't some political statement; I'm just allowing Kodah to share his own story/experience.

Weekly Gems & Reflections: 4/11/23

I figure that this episode will be most interesting for those who are building towards something, especially around creating content - but aren't yet sure what their angle is yet (what I'm working on figuring out!).

I thought it'd be interesting to test out a segment where I shared the most insightful things that I read/watched and sort of reflect out loud on where I'm at with what I'm working on. I enjoy following others "building in public" towards whatever endeavor they're working on, so I figured I'd try it myself.

In this episode, I talk about:

  • Re-thinking affirmations after hearing Lex Fridman's interview of the author of The Case Against Reality as well as from Mike Tyson's online course

  • Navigating the uncertainty of knowing where I want to go, but being confused by random points of traction from time to time

  • The challenge of knowing what I'm good at and what I want to create based on my taste, but working through a lack of clarity of what exactly that looks like

#11 - Favorite Book Highlights: Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself

I thought it'd be interesting to try a new format where I read my favorite highlights directly from my absolute favorite books (kind of like mini audiobooks).

And if you like the content of the episode, I encourage you to buy the full book!

The first episode is where I read highlights from Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself, by Dr. Joe Dispenza; definitely one of my all-time favorite books.

If people like this format, I can make this a regular thing. After all, I've been sitting on a treasure trove of highlights across my hundreds of books on a variety of great topics!

#10: Podcast 1-month reflection + ideas

In this episode, I cover what's going well with the podcast, areas where I'm feeling challenged, and how I'm thinking about what's next for the podcast (hint: YouTube series?!).

I also thought it'd be valuable for me to share this as a sort of public process for those curious about starting a podcast, because I find that it feels quite intimidating to start building a show and audience entirely from scratch.

#9 - Armchair Therapist Ep4 - "What will my family think?"

This is the 4th (of 5 total) episodes where listeners anonymously join me while I play the role of 'armchair therapist' for them.

In this episode, the guest shares a fear of being seen for who she really is around her family (how many of us can relate?!?) -- which is the blocker behind her launching a business.

Stay tuned until the end, where she commits to a clear action of publicly posting her design concepts (to sell clothing) and a due date!

#8 - Armchair Therapist Ep3 - Seeking Creative Focus

This is the third episode where listeners anonymously join me while I play the role of 'armchair therapist' for them.

In this episode, the guest has numerous endeavors that he is pursuing. While he is enjoying them all, he wants to talk through how his energy feels a bit scattered and unfocused -- e.g. pertaining to a specific theme for his YouTube videos.

Because I personally relate to his challenge of picking a specific content niche (when it comes to this podcast), I slipped up and chimed in with my experiences -- rather than my usual aim of being a mirror. But I hope it's valuable nonethless!

#7 - Armchair Therapist Ep2 - Breakup to First Client

Here's my second episode where listeners anonymously join me while I play the role of 'armchair therapist' for them -- to see if I could be an effective mirror and help them uncover things about themselves.

I'm recording a few of these episodes as a mini-series within the podcast.

In this second episode, the guest focused on a recent breakup that she had.

The big revelation: the guest was working to get her business going, but had no real traction for many months. But shortly after officially cut the cord on all communication with her ex, her first client came in. Is there a connection between the two?!

#6 - Armchair Therapist Ep1 - Dating

I feel like people regularly come to me - from friends to strangers - and want to spill their guts.

So I thought it'd be fun to see if any listeners (currently friends/acquaintances) wanted to anonymously join me while I play the role of 'armchair therapist' for them -- to see if I could be an effective mirror and help them uncover things about themselves.

I'm recording a few of these episodes as a mini-series within the podcast.

For the first segment of this mini series, we talk about dating.

The big revelation: By the end of the episode, you'll hear the guest uncover that she actually wants something entirely different than what she says at the beginning of the episode (and what she's told herself + others she's wanted).

#5 - How to discover & be who we truly are

Are we actually being ourselves? Do we even know who we really are?! Are we allowing ourselves to be who we really are?

This episode is all about that. I've struggled with this nearly all of my life -- and I think a ton of us do.

Many people go their whole lives not even knowing who they actually are (but just playing a role of who they think they 'should' be).

This episode is three segments combined; the first and third are more conceptual ideas around this (the third segment is the very first podcast I recorded -- a short test episode!), and the second segment discusses the two most life-changing actionable tools that I've ever come across on the topic (Human Design and Wealth Dynamics).

I believe in this episode, but it's pretty wild, so keep an open mind and see if you feel called to lightly experiment with these ideas to see if they work for you.

#4 - To get what I want, am I supposed to "hustle"...or "manifest?"

Are we supposed to "hustle" and "grind" for what we want...or do we simply "manifest" it?

This debate has plagued me for years.

I lived nearly my entire adult life thinking I had to grind at all costs in order to earn success, which got me nowhere.

Yet doesn't manifesting seem so ridiculous and incomprehensible, despite so many people swearing by it?!

I've come to the conclusion that getting what we want is a mix of both.

In this episode, I've curated the following to hopefully bring clarity to this [often-frustrating] question:

  • David Meltzer - Four Laws of the Universe
  • Gay Hendrick - The Upper Limit Problem (as told via The Big Leap)
  • Suzy Batiz (Poo Pourri) - Our energetic blueprint and waiting to catch the inevitable waves

#2: How to build wealth/how money works

In this episode, I go into all things on the topic of building wealth, money, and "abundance" - a topic I have studied at great length.

I outline some points from my absolute favorite books on the topic, as well as add in my own perspectives at the end.

This episode covers wealth + money at a deeper philosophical/conceptional level, which I believe is the missing piece for most people (as opposed to the "how-to" steps).

Books discussed:

  • The Almanack of Naval Ravikant
  • The Illusion of Money
  • The Law of Divine Compensation

Other books I recommend on the topic:

  • Think & Grow Rich
  • The Science of Getting Rich
  • The Game of Life and How to Play It
  • Happy Money
  • The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success
  • The Psychology of Money

#1: A quick explainer on who will like this show

I wanted to give you a quick run-down of who this podcast is for, what it’s about, and the why behind it – so that you can see if it might be of interest to you.

For context on who I am: I am writing a book where I interview some of the world’s most successful people on their deepest life philosophies – essentially curating the laws of the universe into a single book.

I love to seek, curate, and explain the best wisdom I can find.

Who this podcast is for:

People that probably already consume content related to personal development or entrepreneurship, and consider themselves open-minded and growth-oriented.

Maybe you listen to podcasters like Lewis Howes, Jay Shetty, or Tom Bilyeu, Aubrey Marcus, Jordan Harbinger, or Tim Ferriss, or you might enjoy entrepreneurial shows like How I Built This or My First Million.

You might have loved reading Atomic Habits or Zero to One, all the way to books like The Power of Now or The Untethered Soul.

But for me – and for many of the listeners – I’ve checked the boxes by reading the books and following the tactics, yet for the longest time I was spinning my wheels, and I couldn't figure out why.

What it’s about:

My focus is to curate the most profound and actionable information that you can use to change your life, in a variety of ways.

And I promise you that you’re going to hear some…possibly unbelievable and wild perspectives in this show – (don’t worry, no wild political conspiracy theories or anything).

All that I ask is that you keep an open mind and give yourself permission to experiment with some of the ideologies that I lay out.

That’s really one of the things that I believe will make this show unique: One moment, I might share my favorite ideas on the nature of reality, and in the next moment, I might share my favorite productivity tools or sales strategies.

Why:

There is so much excellent content discussing the what and the how in-depth, such as the specific actions that have driven results. I really enjoy those and have found them very useful. I’m not going to attempt to beat those creators at that game.

My focus is on the unseen. The underlying beliefs. The unexplainable.

Are there certain universal laws that are actually the secret sauce to success?

And when we combine that perspective with logical and tangible tactics…will that drastically increase our likelihood of succeeding (whatever that authentically means for us)?

THAT is my focus and my why. Thank you for joining me for the ride.

#3: How to pursue your biggest ambitions/what Rob Dyrdek taught me about belief

In this episode, I discuss what I've learned about how one can pursue his/her grandest ambitions.

Starting with my own personal experience of the book I'm writing.

I cover:

  • My process, from ideating, to actually reaching out to super-successful people to interview them for my book -- despite never being a professional writer nor interviewer, as well as my thought process for starting this podcast.

  • One of the principles that Rob Dyrdek taught me when I interviewed him, such as: “Belief is not faith. Belief is when you know at your core that ‘it can happen.’ Because when you know something is going to work, it's easy to stay motivated to keep doing it; you just have to keep going.”

  • I go into the four signs of resonance -- when the Universe is telling you that you're onto something -- from Suzy Batiz (another book interviewee of mine; founder of Poo Pourri and one of the wealthiest self-made women in America)

  • The mindsets I've personally found useful to help me do things that feel big/scary to me, though one could make the argument that I am absolutely a "nobody" 🤣

And more!
