This episode features an interview with Maarika Paul, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial and Operations Officer at Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec (CDPQ), one of North America’s leading long-term institutional investors, with net assets totalling CA$365.5 billion and investments in more than 75 countries. Maarika is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Business Valuator with more than 30 years of experience in financial management. She began her career at audit and tax services firm KPMG, where she worked for 10 years. She then worked at BCE from 1994 to 2011, where her responsibilities included performance evaluation of BCE subsidiaries, financial planning, mergers and acquisitions and investor relations. Maarika was also Senior Vice-President, Corporate Communications and, subsequently, Senior Vice-President, Corporate Services. She is a member of CDPQ’s Executive Committee and of the Board of Directors of Ivanhoé Cambridge, the institution’s global real estate subsidiary and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from McGill University.
