
In this episode of, I dive into an insightful conversation with Professor Runjing Lu. She is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Alberta. Her research interests span empirical finance, political economics, and social media. Most recently, she studies how political and social media sentiment affect markets and households. Prior to joining University of Alberta, she finished her PhD in Economics from University of California San Diego and she did her undergraduate at Emory University. She has received numerous fellowships, honors and awards including The Edmonton Journal Fellowship, University of Alberta, (2023-2024), Best Paper Prize in Investments and Asset Pricing, MFA annual meeting, 2023 SWFA Best Doctoral Paper in Financial Markets, Houston, 2019, Associate-in Instructor Teaching Award, UCSD, 2018, Teaching Assistant Excellence Award, UCSD, 2017 and the list goes on and on. When not working, you can often find her thinking about going to work. The Lazy song by Bruno Mars tops her charts as one of her favorite songs.
