In this episode of The Inflection Point, I dive into a wonderful conversation with Marley Alles. Marley, a 27-year-old entrepreneur, is the driving force behind rax, Canada's peer-to-peer wardrobe rental app that is transforming the fashion industry into a hub of innovation, sustainability, and positive social impact. Her vision is not only reshaping the fashion industry but is also breaking down the barriers that young female founders often face in the business world. Rax offers individuals the opportunity to lend and borrow from their closets, reducing the environmental impact of fashion consumption. With every garment rented on rax, there is an 8% reduction in the carbon, waste, and water footprint associated with fashion production, making it a significant contributor to environmental conservation.
Her unique blend of education and industry experience has played a pivotal role in the success of rax, which is making a significant impact on the fashion landscape while advocating for diversity, inclusivity, and ethical consumption. She earned her degree from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University in 2018, and in July 2022, she completed her Technology MBA from Hult International School of Business. Marley's career includes key roles in advertising and marketing, where she developed advertising strategies for globally recognized brands during her time at Ogilvy. Later, at Ernst and Young, she spearheaded go-to-market initiatives for Ontario and in her role as a Growth Strategist at Bell Curve, Marley excelled at crafting and executing strategies that empower startups to expand their businesses and create a lasting impact on both the fashion industry and the planet. White Horse by Chris Stapleton is a track that tops her chats right now.
