Making The Show With SNY Mets Director John DeMarsico
On the latest episode, I'm joined by John DeMarsico, the director for SNY's Mets broadcasts and an avid movie fan. We're breaking down some of the key Mets broadcast moments from last season, from Jacob deGrom's "Simple Man" return to the Kill Bill cam and Edwin Diaz' Narco entrance. We also discuss the magic of Gary, Ron, and Keith, learning from the legendary Bill Webb, and we get an insider's read on the state of baseball broadcasting before nerding out about 2022's best films. DeMarsico on "Simple Man"  "I say to Gary, Keith and Ron, 'I may pump in a little bit more PA than usual here,' just to give them a heads up. They said, 'Oh, that's great. Do you want us to say anything?' Gary said. I left that up to them, and then Ronnie goes, 'What are we going to do, give stats?' So that was their cue to just lay out. As soon as that first chord hit from that song, we all knew in the truck that this was going to be a pretty special moment."---For more on John DeMarsico, follow him on Twitter and read past pod guest Noah Gittell's profile of him in The New York Times.  Please like and subscribe to this podcast and the associated Baseball Weirdness newsletter.
