In this video, we discuss the two most important agendas of the 2023 BRICS Summit: the expansion of the bloc and the creation of a new currency. We first discuss the expansion of the bloc. The BRICS countries have invited six new members to join: Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. This would more than double the size of the bloc. We then talk about the creation of a new currency. The BRICS countries have been discussing the possibility of creating a common currency for some time to reduce their reliance on the US dollar and give them more control over their economies. We discuss the perspective of each BRICS nation in detail; where they stand on each of these agendas, and how they can move forward to provide more opportunities to the developing world.
