Welcome to the Horn and Cauldron podcast… Samhain is third and final harvest festival, which takes place on the October 31 (April 30 southern hemisphere), which is about halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. It’s a time for mute dinners, dumb suppers, costumes, trick or treating, jack-o-lanterns, divination, bonfires, and all that fun Halloween stuff. When you think of Halloween or Samhain you probably think of the full moon at night. The moon has been of the more romanticized and popular focal points for magic throughout time. It waxes and wanes, sometimes disappearing entirely. Furthermore, sometimes it’s out during the day! In this episode, we’ll be discussing the magical properties of the moon, its cycles, and how you can use them in your practice.
