How to identify fungal acne and treat it with conventional vs natural therapies

Have you heard of fungal acne before? This week we’re diving in and talking about what this skin condition is and how it differs from “regular” acne. The signs and symptoms of fungal acne can be very similar to acne vulgaris, but there are key features that help differentiate the two conditions from each other. Treating fungal acne requires different medications than acne vulgaris. In some cases failure to respond to conventional acne medications can be a clue that it might not be acne after all and is something else instead, such as fungal acne.

Join us in today’s episode as we talk about what fungal acne is, what causes fungal acne, how it differs from “regular” acne, and how conventional doctors treat fungal acne versus naturopathic doctors.

Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform.

Topics Covered:

  • What is fungal acne
  • How does fungal acne (Malessezia folliculiits) differ from "regular" acne (Acne vulgaris)
  • What causes fungal acne
  • How is it tested for and how is it treated from a conventional perspective
  • How is it treated from a naturopathic perspective
