Tori Cutrell has a background in the Western medical field as a medical and surgical assistant and has also worked in medical research for the NIH at UNC School of Medicine, while working on her undergraduate degree there. She was on her way to Physician’s Assistant school when she became chronically ill and was overcome with a painful neurological condition and had to cease school and her career to manage her illness, as well as battling depression and anxiety for over 20 years, and go on disability.
In 2021, she was introduced to a new lifestyle that completely changed her life and the way she looked at healing. She began exploring holistic and root cause medicine (as opposed to Western Medicine), and started with foundational support of her body and mind. As she began to work on her nervous system through somatic experience therapy, EMDR, Brainspotting, and brain retraining with Primal Trust, she’s begun to regain her health and a sense of self compassion and love.
Tori also speaks about the grief of her father, who passed away in an untimely and tragic accident 7 months ago. She shares that striving for resilience over full remission or healing has helped her battle through her chronic illness, mental health and grief. Tori has future plans that involve traveling, something she once loved to do before disability, as well as attending IHP (Integrative Health Practitioner) school this fall, with an interest in bio-energetics. She hopes to one day return to helping others heal through a holistic lens as opposed to Western Medicine.
