Welcome to The Head Ballet podcast! This podcast is the place to come to hear guests discuss with me, Paul Abbott, their favourite novelty songs - the funny, the weird, the daft and the outright baffling tunes that have been skipping and dancing around in their heads for years. Everybody loves something that could be considered novel, so why not celebrate it? Importantly, it also seeks to try and stretch the definition of novelty to encompass all manner of recordings. This could include TV Themes, songs about unusual subject matter, deliberately comic or comedy recordings, ‘outsider’ music and much more. There are only two criteria: that the song choice has been released as a single or E.P. (in any territory) and that they can justify their view of the choice as ‘novel’.

Mini-Pod: Submarines, Leopards and Votes
Welcome to The Head Ballet podcast! Paul Abbott invites guests to discuss their favourite novelty songs. Except they don't on this mini-episode... it's just me bringing you a mini stop-gap episode to help me get the show all lined up for next weekend when I'll be releasing two special HALLOWEEN episodes for you to enjoy. However, I thought I'd take this time to indulge a passion of mine and give you a bit of a Beatles-y episode with a look at their most high-profile novelty number, Yellow Submarine. If you're interested hearing more of me wittering on about The Beatles, please look up The Big Beatles Sort Out, my brother's podcast on which I'm the resident fact-wrangler. Available on all the usual podcast apps.
