Episode 014 - Jordan Pye - "Living The Happy Somedays Ethos"
In this episode of The Happy Somedays Podcast, we once again welcome one of our own. A keen participant of our sessions and someone always wanting to help, this person is always encouraging, motivating and inspiring. He is the current holder of our "Living the Ethos" award and it is for all of those reasons and more. It's a pleasure to welcome Jordan Pye to the podcast.
TRIGGER WARNING - This episode contains themes of negative Mental Health, anxiety, depression and descriptions of suicide attempts.
Jordan has been involved with us for a while now and in that time he has really bought into what we stand for as an incentive and very much become part of the Happy Somedays family, ensuring that everyone feels involved, is encouraged and feels part of everything that we do. This is despite his own struggles with depression, bipolar, suicide attempts and anxiety. Jordan has never spoken about these issues to anyone before, so for him to be so open and honest with me was a real privilege and something I do not take for granted.
Jordan was inspired to come on the Podcast after listening to the episode we had with Lucy Abbott who participates in our women's sessions. He realised after listening that he is not alone and felt ready to talk about his own struggles in the hope that it will help others. That's what this podcast is all about. If one person takes something away from them, then that's our job done.
Please remember that help is always out there if you need it. Below are some helplines for local and national crisis support:
CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) - 0800 58 58 58 Manchester City Council Crisis Point - 0161 238 5149 Domestic Abuse Hotline - 0808 2000 247 End The Fear - 0161 636 7525 Mental Health Crisis Team - 0800 953 0285 Mindline (Trans+) - 0300 330 5468 National Suicide Prevention Helpline - 0800 869 5652 Olive Pathway (BME Community) - 07958659203 Pankhurst Trust/Women's Aid - 0161 660 7999 Safe Spots - 07873 899 637 Sane Line - 0300 304 7000 Self Help Services - 0161 226 3871 Shelter - 0330 175 5121 Switchboard for Gay, Lesbian, Bi & Trans Mental Health Support - 0300 330 0630 Manchester City Councils Directorate for Adult Social Services - 0161 234 5001
