In this episode of The Handover, host Erika sits down with a staff nurse who faced a life-threatening experience during her internship when she developed sepsis. Katelyn shares her powerful story of being both the caregiver and the patient, offering a unique perspective on nursing from the other side of the bed. We explore the hidden aftermath of survival, including the impact of post-sepsis syndrome, and how this experience has shaped her practice, empathy, and outlook as a nurse.
This conversation is not only about resilience but also about the importance of awareness, support, and understanding for patients recovering from sepsis and for the nurses who care for them
