Dr. Shadee Elmasry is a deeply respected scholar of traditional Islamic sciences. Raised in New Jersey, Dr. Elmasry embarked on a rigorous educational journey at 18—studying across Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco, and the UK—before earning his M.A. from The George Washington University and a Ph.D. from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) The New ArabSimplyIslam Academy. He has taught at distinguished institutions including Yale, SOAS, Trinity College, and Hartford Seminary, and currently serves as Scholar-in-Residence and Director of Education at the New Brunswick Islamic Center. He is also the founder of the Safina Society, which is dedicated to reviving traditional Islamic education in the West.
