The Gospel In Black & White Show is a podcast started by Cody Moulton and Lenny Escobar (together forming your CoLen) to share some LDS gospel insights and perspectives from their different backgrounds, hence the title "In Black & White." Also, Lenny's a black guy and Cody's a white guy...but the real focus here is on perspective. They hope to inspire listeners to have frequent, natural conversations about God as a normal part of their lives and in their own unique way, exploring and sharing their perspective on the truths of the gospel.
Cody and Lenny served their LDS missions together in Pittsburgh, PA. The two became very good friends as they worked as companions, serving the good people of PA. Since they've been back from their missions (2013-early 2014), they've made an effort to stay in contact. Whenever they would talk over the phone, they would end up getting into these extensive spiritual discussions about what they are studying in the scriptures and how it could apply to their lives with their challenges.
That's pretty much where the idea for this podcast came from. Cody and Lenny want to share this experience with others and help them see how easy and spiritually constructive it is to have normal, chill conversations about God and our friend, brother, and Savior, Jesus Christ. Plus, they want to show the world how fun those conversations can be when they become natural, even if you don't consider yourself religious.

Yet another day graces us with a question from one of our listeners. Today: how can we use our agency to help others practice their agency for good? So many of us get caught up in taking care of ourselves that we forget to let other people help when we might need it most. Sometimes it’s just as important to let others serve.—Show links:—Please subscribe and leave a review!!Twitter, Instagram & Facebook: @ibwpodcastEmail Us: inblackandwhitepodcast@gmail.comWebsite: www.iBWpodcast.com

Howdy friends! Hope you are all well and good and hearty, especially after Thanksgiving last week! This week’s episode tackles a discussion about primary, secondary, and tertiary sources of testimony, in essence. Really looking into the different places and ways we feed our testimony and how some provide much more substantial foundations than others. This becomes more interesting as we look at how some of those kinds of sources may lead us away from God instead of to God. Hey everybody! We’re a little late to the release here, but we just had General Conference and boy was it full of goodness and wisdom! We felt the spirit and hope you did too. In this episode we discuss some of our favorite highlights and discussion points from conference while answering the question “Why should we – or do – listen to prophets?” There are a lot of voices in the world, so why do we give greater heed to these? We hope we can give our testimonies for you on that front.— Show links: —Please subscribe and leave a review!!Twitter & Facebook: @ibwpodcastEmail Us: inblackandwhitepodcast@gmail.comWebsite: www.iBWpodcast.com
Good friends! We hope you are all doing well and having a swell introduction to winter time. Today’s episode discusses a topic of concern we received from one of you: “I struggle with the fact that certain sins need to be brought up to a bishop when they can be very intimate and you don’t really know the bishop”. We are grateful for concerns being brought to us like this as they allow us to discuss something like Confession in a more natural, studied context. We hope this conversation sheds some light on confession and how big of a blessing it can be in our lives for effecting meaningful change in drawing us closer to God! SUMMARY:Yooooo! Welcome to today’s episode. We are super grateful to all you who listen and for your questions and involvement – we really feel this season is different and more powerful because of YOU! Today, Cody and Lenny dig into the question of “What do you do when even the desire to do basic gospel things has left you?” This is a powerful question and probably something most of us have felt at some point. If you have this question, you’ll find yourself among good company, actually….—Show links:Matt 26:39Michael McLean: https://youtu.be/ckuIXECbB5E—Please subscribe and leave a review!!Twitter & Facebook: @iBWpodcastEmail Us: inblackandwhitepodcast@gmail.comWebsite: www.iBWpodcast.com
“Be still and know that I am God.” This is one of the most powerful scriptures we have that’s packed into 8 words or less. What does it mean exactly to “be still”? And how can we be still when the world seems crazier than ever with pandemics and wars and prices going up etc? This place is crazy! Our conversation today centers around stillness and how we can control some degree of that both internally and externally to bring us further peace and, the black and white of it, more revelation in trying times.—Show links: Recognizing Stillness in Gospel Living – https://www.ldsliving.com/recognizing-stillness-in-gospel-living/s/92107 1 Kings 19:11-12—Twitter & Facebook: @iBWpodcastEmail Us: inblackandwhitepodcast@gmail.comWebsite: www.iBWpodcast.com
Hey hey hey you bunch of rapscallions, welcome to Springtime! Today’s episode asks a question we’ve all probably thought about to some degree or from some angle, at the very least: are friends / family / people who live the gospel on the “edge” of the line receiving the same blessings as those who are not? There’s a lot of ways to live the gospel, but there are assured blessings for obeying the Lord. This episode explores that topic and our place regarding how we and others live the gospel. Do send in your next questions for us to explore!—Twitter & Facebook: @iBWpodcastEmail Us: inblackandwhitepodcast@gmail.comWebsite: www.iBWpodcast.com
This may be considered the title episode of Season 5 as we discuss what you do when there is no black and white gospel answer to your questions. While we don’t have all of the answers, we do have the FULNESS of the gospel, or we know everything we need to accomplish the Lord’s work in this life and make it back to live with him as full heirs of his kingdom. We try to focus on what we do know and analyze how that helps us stay faithful. One of the examples we discuss on this episode is miscarriage and how God is merciful and caring even in the darkest of trials.—Show links: John 14:18, 27 Matt. 5:4; see also 3 Ne 12:4 Abr. 5:7 D&C 29:24–25 History of the Church 5:362 https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/1987/09/i-have-a-question/can-we-put-the-names-of-our-miscarried-or-stillborn-children-on-our-family-group-records?lang=eng—Twitter & Facebook: @iBWpodcastEmail Us: inblackandwhitepodcast@gmail.comWebsite: www.iBWpodcast.com
Yo! We’re back at it with the second episode of season 5. Today’s prompt / concern is “How do you reconcile the commandment to be perfect when knowing you’re not going to be perfect on earth?” This opens up a long conversation about standards and how we frame them constructively or destructively in our lives. In the end, God has standards for us, but he is also compassionate and loving and understanding. We hope this conversation encourages you all and helps fuel your study of the scriptures!—Show links:Brad Wilcox – Worthiness Is Not Flawlessness—Twitter & Facebook: @iBWpodcastEmail Us: inblackandwhitepodcast@gmail.comWebsite: www.iBWpodcast.com
Homies, we are back! We’ve had a bit of a hiatus since our last episode as life has happened, but we are so happy to be back at putting these episodes together. We hope these conversations bless your lives in some way as we’ve been blessed preparing for them. In this new season, we will not record a single episode without a user submitted question driving the conversation. So please message us any questions, faith challenges, or just thoughts you have. Our first episode back tackles what the difference is between knowledge and belief is.
