US VS THAT: Be The Body
My husband Corey joins us for season two in our monthly series, “US VS THAT” where we share two differing perspectives that have allowed us both to grow in big ways over the years.
A conversation after studying the book of Ecclesiastes sparked this episode, where we discuss many things we are noticing in “the body” of the church. We share a variety of conversations we’d had with some of our young students (gen-z), a concern for the lack of millennials in the pews on Sunday, and the continued separation amongst the generations causing continual division and other walls (unintentionally).
We address big emotions and feelings like inadequacy, shame, and belonging, and how we continue to hear things like,
“I grew up in the church but….”
Many have walked away and rejected God, but it is our belief that the church should be a place for people to find rest and belonging once again.
Ecclesiastes 2:12 asks us a great question, “What more can the King’s successor do than what has already been done?”
Jesus has already made the way and opened the door for us to embrace his kingdom and purposes. We are in a spiritual battle and need to root out the lies before they are embedded so deeply that it is even more difficult to embrace change.
The process of sanctification is difficult and messy. The war is here and it is spiritual, it is attacking our kids and everybody, whether you believe it or not.
We are witnessing the way that Jesus is radically reaching the hearts of young people, as they are audibly hearing from him and are encountering the spirit in a way that is transforming them in deep ways.
Our prayer is that this episode brings conviction and encouragement. That we remember that Jesus doesn’t NEED US, but wants us to partner with him in bringing forth his Kingdom purposes.
