This week on The GlioBabes Podcast we are joined by Sophie Reid, a mum, hairdresser and fierce advocate from Jersey, who was diagnosed with a grade 3 brain tumour after collapsing at work.
Since then, Sophie has undergone an awake craniotomy, weeks of treatment away from home, and is navigating life with an incurable diagnosis.
She’s sharing her journey with honesty and humour on TikTok, raising awareness in Jersey for brain tumours, and even making her DJ debut to raise money for brain tumour research.
In this deeply moving and hilariously…hilarious conversation, Sophie talks to Mel and Mol about:
- The road to her diagnosis
- Facing a terminal prognosis
- Family life and a new marriage
- The challenges of cancer care in Jersey
- Why she shares her story online
- Living life on her own terms
The GlioBabes, a podcast created by two young women who were both diagnosed with brain tumours at a young age. Mel and Mol are creating a safe space to talk about their experiences and to raise awareness of brain tumours and ill health within the young population.
Our guests share their personal experiences and opinions. We understand that everyone’s journey is unique, and what resonates with one person may not with another. We encourage open-mindedness and respect for diverse perspectives.
