Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?
Here is what I want you to keep in mind, as you hold on to this scripture and others in the Book of Proverbs.
A Proverb is not a Promise from God; so if it does not accomplish what it says, you have no reason to be upset with God.
Yes, Proverbs is One of the 66 Books of the bible; and it is a very important part of the Canon of scripture. But before I begin to expound on today’s verse (Proverbs 22:6); allow me to give you a definition of what a Proverb is.
A Proverb is a Simple, Concrete, Traditional Truth based on common sense or experience. Proverbs are often used as a type of metaphor. Most cultures have their own unique proverbs.
As a child growing up, I used to hear my mother say:
‘Where there is smoke, there is always fire.’ Or
‘You don’ know what you have, until you lose it.’
Here are some Proverbs you may have heard before:
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
A bad workman always blames his tools.
Actions speak louder than words.
Now can you see the difference between a Proverb and a Promise made by God in scripture?
