What if we exist in "A Forest of Light", the "bright forest" opposite of "The Dark Forest Hypothesis"? "The Berserker Hypothesis" suggests that self-replicating artificially intelligent von Neumann probes systematically search for and destroy intelligent extraterrestrial species, explaining the Fermi Paradox (and these probes are presumably searching for us). This relates to "The Dark Forest Hypothesis", which suggests intelligent extraterrestrial life exists but is in hiding in ways we are unable to detect, living in fear-based survival mode in "a dark forest" environment, thus evading the marauding probes.
When we allow materialistic fundamentalism to dictate the characteristics of both "AI" and intelligence, we fail to consider how a spiritually mature species would develop in ways far more advanced than materially-focused societies. We presume that technology is evidence of intelligent life, but not in a spiritual "bright forest" environment.
