Rufio. Yes, that Rufio from “Hook”. When I first saw that movie, I knew that kid who played that role had to be Pinoy. Then it was confirmed, he was Pinoy. Dante Basco burst into our psyches with that unforgettable role in that Steven Spielberg movie with Robin Williams, my own comedy hero. How jealous was I that this kid from Pittsburg CA got to be in a movie with the comedy legend I most admired. He went on to star in so many other Hollywood films working alongside other greats and become synonymous with Fil-Am cinema with his role in “The Debut” and in the early days of spoken word. If you’re a fan of the animated fantasy series, “Avatar: The Last Airbender” he voices Prince Zuko! These days, Dante is handling the reins as a producer and director in the Asian American filmmaking scene, look out for the upcoming “The Fabulous Filipino Brothers”, starring his own brothers who are stars in their own right. This is part one of my interview with Dante Basco, he definitely deserves a longer talk with you all. Enjoy.

Please forgive the audio on this episode, somehow my own audio track was so distorted it couldn’t be repaired in post-production, but Dante’s track came out perfect...go figure! Featuring music by DJ Qbert.
Thanks in advance!!!
