In this episode I dive into some things that I have picked up along the way over my first year as a Battalion Chief. While I am speaking to that level, the content will be helpful for all ranks in the Fire Department. Enjoy!
In this episode we will dive into my old Navy Blue Jacket manual. Specifically what it has to say about leadership. I will discuss the principles mentioned in this book, and have a conversation about how we can apply these principles in the firehouse.
We're back with some 20 minute power episodes this year!!! Check out Jarrod Sergi's new episode my friends! Just a few things that will keep your crew together!!!
It's the holidays, so of course we have a holiday episode for yah my friends! Some friendly banter back and forth about the holidays, firehouse traditions, and our favorite firehouse meals. And of course... Gremlins is not a Christmas movie!!! See ya'll next year! This is it for 2024!!!!
This episode... James Geering is the founder of the Behind the Shield Podcast and is pioneering the way for change in the fire service. In this episode, we uncover the gems in his new book, KINDER. After reading four chapters of this book, my life was never going to be the same. James brought light to what so many of us go through in the fire service. It's a real and raw look into the domino effect this career can have on our lives and the restorative power of my favorite four letter word... HOPE.
I've interviewed and had many conversations with many people, but no one like James Geering. His drive, passion, and genuine compassion for the men and women in the fire service bleeds through the pages in this book. This book was truly life changing. Ok, I'm done, you guys have got to listen to this one. Also, grab your spouse!!! They need this too!!!

What's up my friends this episode is all about leadership and how to do it right. We don't have it all right, but we've made a few mistakes so you don't have to. At this point there are a couple things that really work, and a couple things you should probably stop doing immediately. Let's get to it friends!
What should your expectations look like when you arrive at a new house as an officer? What can you expect from your officer as a firefighter? You don't have to wonder anymore. Check out this episode from my cohost Jarrod Sergi. I'm not gonna lie, I took a few notes on this one!
Jarrod and I are back in the studio and catching up for a few and talking about all things fire and current events! Excited to be back with a new episode this week!
This episode is all real galley table talk between two firefighters that love the job. Yes, I know I am an officer, but I know where I come from... We don’t know it all, but we share our genuine passion for the job and the men and women who are out there crushing it. Heath is a firefighter out of good ole Texas. They say everything is bigger in Texas, and he has the passion and personality to prove it!
What's up mi compadres! This week Jarrod is flying solo while I'm on vacation in the mountains! He had a great conversation with Fire Chief Dennis Doan out on the west coast.
