Conversation with Rick Vercauteren - Curator and Museum Director

Rick Vercauteren has a career of more than 40 years as an art historian, editor, and writer. As an independent curator, he has worked for various art institutions in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. He writes, on a regular basis, texts on contemporary art and music in Dutch, English, and German. Furthermore, he operates as a personal adviser for artists in several countries in Western Europe. In addition, he is an enthusiastic interviewer (live) and a vivid master of ceremonies in the broader cultural domain in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.

Rick was born in 1956 and studied History of Art, American Literature, and Film between 1974 and 1982. From 1986 till 2022 he worked as a spirited curator and turbocharging director in museums in the Netherlands. Besides he was an animated teacher in the cities of Amsterdam, Eindhoven, ’s-Hertogenbosch and Tilburg (Academies of Contemporary Art and Open University). He’s a voracious reader and critical movie buff.
