Michael Morales is one of the UFC's embarrassment of riches at 170. At UFC Vegas 106, he knocked off a long-time contender in Gilbert Burns. That said, none of the questions that many had about Michael Morales before the fight were answered. How's his cardio? Grappling? All of these will need to be answered before Michael Morales even thinks of taking on the division's best. What if he fights a Shavkat Rakhmonov or Ian Machado Garry? There is still much to prove for Michael Morales that we need answered. As for Gilbert Burns, washed. He crumbled at the first sign of things not going his way. Maybe it's time to revisit his already-legendary grappling career.
Marion Santos also had a tough fight in front of him, though not Gilbert Burns level. He took on the perennial contender Sodiq Yusuff. This fight showed that the young Marion Santos is a promising prospect that deserves eyes on him. UFC Vegas 106 marked his coming for many of the UFC faithful watching him for the first time. Sodiq Yusuff is a tough task and a rite of passage for some. Marion Santos handled it with ease and managed to get out relatively unscathed.
Nursultan Ruziboev took on a very game Dustin Stoltzfus at UFC Vegas 106. He was brought to the brink and into very deep waters. While Nursultan Ruziboev has many fans eyes on him, this fight showed some of his limitations. That said, he also knows where to improve from here. Dustin Stoltzfus is a good fighter who presents hard challenges as a catch wrestler. Now we can see if Nursultan Ruziboev can put together any of the combination punching that we'd like to see.
Melquizael Costa and Julian Erosa had a banger of a fight. While not technical, this one was just pure dumb fun. Sometimes we need that, just not in the APEX. Both Melquizael Costa and Julian Erosa had a hard fought battle that earned them Fight of the Night. Melquizael Costa won the fight and Erosa was sent packing.
