Are more women running races than men? A report published 2019 “The state of running” claimed that women outnumber men globally making up 50.24% of all runners. The U.S. is having a huge impact on this result with 57% of female participants. But is this the experience we make ourselves? And does this mean that an equal number of women is taking part in running races?
Our individual perception might be influenced by many factors: where we run, which races we attend and even which age group we are in. For example, the average age of running women is 36, whereas the number drops after the age of 40.
We discuss the number of women who are running races looking at the numbers of big marathon events and our own experiences.
