Mel’s first encounters were fleeting. While marking trees or surveying land, he would notice large, upright figures moving silently through the treeline. They never approached, but they never completely disappeared either—always just far enough to remain hidden, yet close enough to make their presence felt. Unusual Sounds and Tree Knocks Soon after, other signs emerged: rhythmic tree knocks echoing through the woods, heavy footsteps where no person should be, and low, resonant vocalizations unlike any known animal calls in the region. Years into his encounters, Mel began noticing something new: thoughts or impressions that felt like they were not entirely his own. It wasn’t an audible voice, but a knowing—a mental communication conveying emotion, caution, or reassurance. Differentiating Mind-Speak from Imagination At first, he questioned whether these impressions were simply his imagination. But their timing—often in direct response to his movements or thoughts—suggested otherwise. The Sensation: A Sweep of Awareness Through the Woods Without warning, the three felt a wave—like an invisible pulse—move through them. It was as if the forest itself was scanning their presence, searching for intention.
