After being abandoned by one resident after another, the Gilded Age mansion attracted the interest of artist and best selling novelist Audrey Niffenegger whose romantic drama, The Time-Traveler's Wife, uses mystical and supernatural themes. Niffenegger talks about her past life as a student in the abandoned mansion when it was a Community Art Center, her dream to rescue it from its condemned and haunted status, and her challenge to turn it into a book arts education center.
