The ESL Sessions Presents: Mrs. Martha Barbosa - Spanish and ESL Teacher
From the developmental years in early education to insitutes of higher learning, teacher and educators help us to understand the world in molding, guiding us and being mentors in aspects of our lives. In this mini series on teachers appreciation week for 2025 I am joined by one of my own teachers and one of the educators that inspired me to create this podcast. From her early life as a teacher in Colombia to becoming an educator in the United States. We explore her experiences as a Fulbright scholar in the early 90s and how she came to be a professor at the University of Nevada Reno, Fernley Nevada and ultimately ,Hugg highschool in Reno. We remanic on Spanish club, her experiences with her students, the challenges of being an educator for ESL and Spanish lacking resources, and the administration battles she fought for her students. As well as her guidance and mentoring she provided to many of my fellow classmates and international students.
