Gastric Intestinal Metaplasia w/ Dr. Shailja Shah
In this episode of The Emoroid Digest Podcast, we will be discussing the recent American Gastroenterology Association (AGA) Guidelines on the Management of Gastric Intestinal Metaplasia. Our guest for the episode is Dr. Shailja Shah. She was the co-lead of AGA’s two technical reviews regarding gastric intestinal metaplasia. Dr. Shailja Shah is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Diego, staff gastroenterologist at the VA in San Diego, and is part of the Cancer Control Program at UCSD Moores Cancer Center. She completed her internal medicine training at UCSF, followed by a fellowship and chief year at Mount Sinai in NYC, as well as a visiting clinical rotation in Tokyo Japan that was focused on gastric cancer screening and surveillance.  She leads a multidisciplinary research program that aims to define non-genetic, genetic, and systems-level determinants of H pylori treatment- and disease-related clinical outcomes, including gastric cancer, among high-risk populations, such as US Veterans and non-white racial/ethnic and immigrant groups. Dr. Shah’s research and public policy initiatives promote gastric cancer prevention and early detection efforts, such as gastric cancer screening and preneoplasia surveillance, among these high-risk groups.  Dr. Shah has given several national and international talks related to H pylori and gastric intestinal metaplasia. She has published nearly 100 articles and holds active funding from the VA, NIH, and AGA.  Gastric Intestinal Metaplasia Guidelines: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7340330/ Gastric Intestinal Metaplasia Visual Abstract: https://twitter.com/EmoryGastroHep/status/1455276923362455556?s=20&t=tEwHq0myvg3y8oQOYECz7w Host: Dr. Chuma Obineme (GI Fellow) –  https://twitter.com/TypicallySilent  Co-Host: Dr. Jason Brown - https://med.emory.edu/directory/profile/?u=JMBROW2  Link to the Emoroid Digest Website - https://med.emory.edu/departments/medicine/divisions/digestive-diseases/education/emoroid-digest.html
